एक गाँव में दो दोस्त रहते थे, जिनका नाम था राम और श्याम। दोनों दोस्त बहुत ही अच्छे थे और एक-दूसरे की मदद करने से कभी नहीं चूकते थे। एक दिन, दोनों दोस्त जंगल में शिकार करने गए। जंगल में पहुँचते ही, दोनों ने अपने घोड़ों को बाँध दिया और शिकार की तैयारी करने लगे। 

जंगल में बहुत गर्मी थी। राम ने देखा कि उसकी छाया उसके घोड़े पर पड़ रही है, जिससे घोड़ा थोड़ा आराम कर रहा है। लेकिन श्याम का घोड़ा धूप में खड़ा था। राम ने सोचा कि श्याम का घोड़ा भी आराम करे, इसलिए उसने श्याम के घोड़े को धूप से बचाने के लिए अपनी छाया में सरका दिया।

कुछ देर बाद, श्याम शिकार से वापस आ गया। उसने देखा कि राम ने उसके घोड़े को धूप से बचाने के लिए अपनी छाया में सरका दिया है। श्याम को राम की इस मदद पर बहुत खुशी हुई। उसने राम को धन्यवाद दिया और कहा, "तुम मेरे सबसे अच्छे दोस्त हो। तुमने मेरी बहुत मदद की है।"

राम ने कहा, "यह कोई बात नहीं है। दोस्ती का यही तो मतलब है।"

दोनों दोस्त फिर से शिकार करने चले गए। इस बार, श्याम ने राम के घोड़े को धूप से बचाने के लिए अपनी छाया में सरका दिया। राम को भी श्याम की इस मदद पर बहुत खुशी हुई।

दोनों दोस्त हमेशा एक-दूसरे की मदद करते रहे और उनकी दोस्ती हमेशा बनी रही।
